Surya wins Wyclef's 'More Bottles' Twitter Remix Competition

Multi-platinum recording artist Wyclef Jean has announced the ten artist who have won his 'More Bottles' Twitter Remix Competition. Included in the ten is Surya, who is the only Canadian artist. The contest consist of all winners recording the remix for 'More Bottles' with Wyclef at Platinum Studios in New York City on July 25, 2009. The original for 'More Bottles' was produced by Timbaland.

hunt.FM #89: “The Newness w/ Guest DJ Grouch”

Based in Toronto, Canada, Grouch has been deejaying since the late 80's and got his first start competing in the DMC & ITF DJ Battles in the mid 90's. He was crowned 1998 Western Hemisphere Team Champion as part of the Turnstylez Crew with partners Lil' Jaz & D-Scratch. He has also toured, and worked with Toronto heavyweights Kardinal Offishall, Saukrates & Choclair. Grouch has kept busy by being part of many North American Hip Hop Tours such as the Lyricist Lounge in 1999 (with Choclair) and the G-Unit Canada Tour (with Melanie Durrant).

Being a multi-facetted DJ working in radio, clubs, competitions and shows it was a natural progression for Grouch to evolve his talent in the art of production. Inspired by the Jeep Beat producers of the 90's such as Kenny Dope, The Nubian Crackers & Frankie Cutlass, Grouch has crafted the perfect balance between the 2 genres. The first track, Ah One Two Oye, samples the late great Salsa legend Hector Lavoe.

Aubrey “Drake” Graham is a Canadian actor, rapper and singer. So far he has released three mixtapes, 2006’s Room for Improvement, 2007’s Comeback Season, and 2009’s So Far Gone. He is in the beginning stages of recording his major label debut, tentatively titled Thank Me Later, which is projected to be released late 2009. The album is slated to include guest appearances by acts such as Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Danny! and others. He is also working on Dr. Dre’s upcoming album Detox, and has worked with Michelle Williams on her album Unexpected.

Angels of Modern Destruction is an American rock/pop/gothic group formed in 2009. It features band members Carrie Jones ("CJ") who was featured on the reality TV show Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious and Jordis Unga ("Jordis") who was featured on the reality competition Rock Star INXS. Grace Stanley ("Stanley") and Holly Rae are also members of the quartet.

Prior to the JUNOS in Vancouver, BC, I got to find out what sets 'World Famous DJ Starting From Scratch' apart from every other DJ and how he's wanting to produced again.

He's known for 'Doin' it Like No Other' and being Flow 93.5 'Mix Show Magician.' He also has the reputation for being 'Canada's number one DJ.' He's pretty much your favorite DJs favorite DJ. No Joke!

DJ Starting From Scratch's resume is very impressive and to some highly inspirational. He's the official tour DJ for Russell Peters, Keisha Chante and toured with Usher for his 'One Night Stand Tour.' Clinton Sparks has asked him to be apart of his 'Smash Squad DJ Crew' and he's the only Canadian Representative for DJ Whoo Kid's 'Shadyville DJ's Coalition.' This man has won every single award you can possibly think of for a DJ and has worked with John Legend, Faith Evans, Amerie, Beenie Man, Kardinal Offishal and more in studio. For his 15 year anniversary as a DJ he was awarded gold and platinum records from Virgin, BMG and Universal. You can only wonder what he will receive for his 20 year anniversary.

Seeing how this is my first EVER mixtape, I wanted to make it as GREAT as I could. Yes it has taken me longer then I had anticipated, the more I hear it the more I’m like take this out put this here no wait re-do, hang on new mix LOL.

Then pressing the wrong mix the first time made me a bit nervous about what people are going to think about me but then....

The one I am about to post is the one that I put a lot of love and effort into. Cammon!! Not as if someone is going to EVER compare me to a male DJ and if they do then shit son that’s an honor for the both of us!!! (YAAAAY!)

This mix is something that I came up with one random night when I went to edit another mix, I realized that I was moving to Toronto in a week away from all my friends and family. Vancouver based production crew Vanguards Music have been putting in their work. From producing music for 4Real TV to working with EA Sports, Vanguards have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. DJ Coco Fresh Presents: 'Bright Lights and Big Cities' the mixtape release party

DJ Coco Fresh's love for djing began when she first heard Flipout and Jay Swing on 'The World Wide Ride' on CFOX. Intrigued with their DJing skills, Coco Fresh wanted to figure out how to create these amazing mixes. She turned to her cd collection as if they were records and tried to scratch 'I scratched the hell out of my cds' states Coco Fresh 'and almost fell off my chair then my chair broke and I fell true story.'

Month of October.... SON!!!

Hope Everyone had a safe, amazing Halloween Jenno and I did lol any-who here's a little recap of October!! It was a big ol month for GoGetters from working with GMAN AND RIZK, STARTING FROM SCRATCH, & RG, to Kapin' Kirk coming to town too MY BIG OL BIRTHDAY BASH which may I add was a month long ( no joke ask any of my girls lol) oh yes and well the best part was celebrating my big day with my sister/bestfriend/co worker/ go to person JENNO!! came home!!! yayyy!! ( yes and you too sk but you live here lol heart you son!)

A big thank you too everyone who came out on both Friday the 10th night( JENNO's HOME COMING!) @ the modern and a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to PLUSH( now GOSSIP) on Saturday the 11th!! Not only was it my big ol pre birthday jam it was seriously a night to remember!!

The weekend after that was another one to remember, DJ FASHEN was @ Plush ( gossip) on saturday the 18th and boy did he kill it! I have not seen a DJ play that type of ish in vancouver in my life!! Thank god for GREAT DJS!! after that Jenno, Sk and myself hit up the Plaza club where DJ TANNER ( Faction Sound Crew) was spinning and from what I can remember it was sick he played sade! No one plays her in clubs in Van ever!!! ( High five for playing her sir ;)!)

And for 2nd BEST weekend of October had to me my Birthday weekend! for those of you who don't know it was my real birthday jam and well It was one for the books am I right ladies LOL well jeez just look at the pics! I sprained my ankle at the end of the night ( I believe we where walking from the Plaza lol but I do know we started of at plush shout out to Flip n Jay you two are thee best!) well lets just say IT WAS THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!! lol oh yes it was!! From the way it went I kinda pieced my night together and is still trying to figure it out lol
